In the first half of 2022, airline ticket sales from the U.S. to Moldova and Romania have surpassed the figures from the same period last year by 1.6 times. The most significant increase in ticket sales was 2.3 times higher compared to the first half of 2020, the onset of the pandemic and the suspension of air services in the region.
The average number of tickets per purchase in the first half of 2022 nearly reached pre-pandemic levels, standing at 1.6 tickets. In the first quarter of 2019, this figure was 1.61 tickets. The average purchase amount in the first half of 2022 was $1,829.
The study suggests that the pandemic still influences travel planning, with U.S. travelers to Romania and Moldova being cautious about long-term reservations. According to Dyninno Travel, only 1% of travelers in the first half of 2022 booked more than 120 days in advance, and just 3% booked more than 90 days in advance. The share of tourists booking tickets for 60 or more days is 17%. The most popular booking windows in the last six months are over 30 days and 0-30 days before departure, accounting for 30% and 49% of travelers, respectively.
