Travelers Go Slower, Stay Longer, and Book Smarter Finds Oojo Report

news

Global OTA Oojo (part of Trevolution Group) has released its latest Summer Travel Trends report, highlighting a season of purposeful, flexible, and tech-driven travel. From slow- paced itineraries to more budget-conscious bookings, this summer travelers are choosing fewer destinations, longer stays, and more sustainable travel experiences. The shift toward “slow travel” reflects a growing desire to connect more deeply with local cultures and reduce environmental impact while vacationing both domestically and overseas. Multi-generational trips continue to steal the spotlight this year, showing a strong desire for shared family experiences. People aged 0–11 and 40–64 now represent over half of all summer travelers, with extended families seeking meaningful time together. At the same time, solo travel has also surged in popularity, with single-person trip searches increasing by 35% compared to last year. Top destinations for summer 2025 include Canada, the United States, India, the Philippines, and Italy, which all offer a mix of natural beauty and cultural heritage, catering to a wide variety of travel preferences. Whether it’s a coastal escape, outdoor adventure, urban summer getaway, or cultural experience, travelers are choosing places that match their interests and travel goals. Travel this summer is all about added value, not just leisure. This shift in mindset is also reflected in how people plan and book their vacations. The majority, or 85%, of online bookings are now made via mobile devices, underscoring the growing role of real-time, on-the-go planning. At the same time, summer vacationers are booking further in advance, with 48% securing their trips 31–90 days ahead and another 44% booking them more than 90 days in advance. Only 8% of bookings are made within a month of departure this summer, revealing more strategic and cost-effective planning. Continue reading here.
